THE VILLA VALMER AND ITS PARK are located on the Corniche Kennedy just after the Anse de la Fausse Monnaie.
Leave your car on the ledge at the tide gauge, and walk up the driveway that winds through the park to Villa Valmer.
The park with its lush vegetation has a little exotic side with many palm trees, olive trees, Aleppo pines, holm oaks, pistachio trees, mastic trees,
strawberry trees, and cascading perennials: dimorphotecas, lantanas
agathaea, carpobrutus, lavender, arctotis.
A playground has been set up for children.
On the heights, a few benches await you with a beautiful view of the bay of Marseille, the Chateau d'If and the Frioul islands.
The villa, which can easily be compared to a small castle in
Because of its proportions and architecture, is a neo-Renaissance bastide which was built in 1865 by Charles Gonnelle, a wealthy oil manufacturer and merchant from Salon. Originally, the villa was called "Vague à la mer" which later contracted into "Valmer". It now houses a UN agency.
It's a nice place to walk.
