The MAC, Museum of Contemporary Art in Marseille, is located near the Chateau.

Pursuing a policy of active and dynamic presentation of works and events related to contemporary practices of the 60s to the present day, MAC takes the rest of the Cantini Museum which he houses a public collection of modern art covering the period 1900 to 1960.

Reception of the public

The educational team offers, by appointment: for elementary school classes, colleges, high schools and students, approach works through exchanges of words and experiences. The course of these visits are tailored to different grade levels. Similarly the animations that allow different approaches to notions of body and space, actual and projected, from video works and films in the collection made by: Gordon Matta-Clark, Absalon, Bruce Nauman,...
For teachers, a visit before the exhibitions so that they can then bring their students calmly.
For disabled audiences, the courses are adapted to demand.

Namely

The Museum offers, at the same time, a series of lectures with the schools of Architecture and Fine Arts of Marseille, of meetings, of the symposia, concerts with Montevideo and the George, the shows dance with the national Ballet of Marseille and the Festival of Marseille and projections of cinema with the assistance of the National Museum of Modern Art, Centre Georges Pompidou and the FID Marseille. Finally projects off the walls, [mac] brings its support to the Festival of Arts Ephemera.

The center of documentation Ernst Goldschmidt of the MAC, is an exceptional catalogues of exhibitions not found elsewhere, collection of essays and reviews on contemporary art. This library comes from the Institute of advanced studies in Art plastics founded by Ponthus Hulten in Paris enriched by the legacy of his library by Ernst Goldschmidt. Given to the [mac] by the son of Ernst Goldschmidt, fund a mission to gather the documentation written, Visual, sound and multimedia on contemporary artistic creation. It now includes 50,000 documents and also publishes a quarterly bibliographic bulletin which reports thousands of publications that enrich its collections each year. This newsletter called Catalogus gives a broad overview of international arts publications

The documentation center activities allow the meeting of very diverse audiences, fans, artists, researchers, curators, critics, students, and participate in the role of presenter and the function of the Museum
