In Marseille, we call "the door of Aix", this is the Place Jules Guesde *, located at the entrance of the city, upon arrival or at the exit of "the highway of the North". It is crowned with an unusual arc of triumph classified historical monuments, which was built (1824-1837), on the initiative of the Marquis de Montgrand (then Mayor of Marseille), on the old walls of the city to the location of the door opening "on the way" in Aix-en-Provence.
This arc of triumph homage bursting to the French army, led by Louis of France, Duke of Angoulême (son of Charles X) which is illustrated in Spain in 1823 (under Louis XVIII) to restore the power of the Bourbon (Ferdinand VII of Spain) there.
Come on, don't delay! Leave the door of Aix by rue Sainte Barbe (Hotel of the Region - Regional Council) and join the old Port by the Colbert Street and the street of the Republic.
