A masterpiece of seventeenth-century architecture, Chateau Borely was originally a beautiful country bastide, built at the request of Louis Borely (rich merchant of Marseille) who lived there only for sunny days.
It is located in the very pretty Parc Borely, which adjoins the Hippodrome by the sea.
The Chateau, which has three levels, is flanked by two pavilions, a perspective of water basins on the front, a large courtyard and a magnificent wooden door on the back. There are several richly decorated and interesting rooms on the first floor, including a beautiful ovoid chapel.
Fully classified as a Historical Monument and labeled "Museum of France", it now houses the Museum of Decorative Arts of Faënce and Fashion.
You can access the Chateau during the opening hours of Parc Borely, i.e. every day between 6:00 am and 9:00 pm.
If you want to visit the interior and the Museum of Decorative Arts of The Faënce and Fashion, it is possible every day (except Monday) from 9am to 6pm.
The Café Borely,on site, is a beautiful address for a gourmet break in an exceptional and romantic setting.
