THETOURSKY INTERNATIONAL THEATRE is atheatre apart, a unique human and artistic adventure in France!

After a career as an independent actor in Paris from 1960 to 1968, Richard Martin directed the Théâtre Massalia in Marseille and in 1971 founded the Théâtre Toursky from a hangar built in 1936 in a disadvantaged district.

Fiercely defending the idea that Art can change the social and mentalities by fighting obscurantism, Richard Martin and his theatre had not finished asking questions between neighbourhood, the Mediterranean and citizenship.

Culture is "a human right". It is one of the fundamental pillars of social cohesion and democracy. The Toursky Theatre, created by Richard Martin who dreamed of setting up a decentralised theatrical action in a working-class and wounded district, has been recognised for many years as one of the liveliest centres of cultural life in Marseille.
