Inaugurated in 1787, The Opera de Marseille is among the current rooms, second great theatre built in the province after that of Bordeaux.
However, on November 13, 1919 fire spared only the external structures: the walls, the colonnade and the peristyle. All the rest is the work of a group of architects and artists who have achieved for its reconstruction, between 1919 and 1924, the most important room of typical "art deco" architecture in France.
