THE POPULAR CAFÉ
"Here is one of the coolest and trendiest brasseries" taken over in 2021, from Nicolas Julien, by the TUBA CLUB* team in Les Goudes!
It was Jean-François Caujolle, the famous organizer of sporting events, who, in love with the neighborhood and the CAFÉ POPULAIRE, took over this beautiful establishment with Team TUBA.
The founder of the CAFÉ POPULAIRE was André Gas, whose neighboring store remains a reference for high-end costume jewelry in Marseille; It was he "who was the first to install an open kitchen in the window, at the entrance to the restaurant, which was very innovative at the time".

There is a very special atmosphere at the CAFÉ POPULAIRE, it feels like a brasserie with Parisian, London or New York influences, with a spirit that reconnects with the values of simplicity and friendship, with Mediterranean cuisine that delights you, and a fine selection of wines ranging from South Africa to Italy and offering beautiful discoveries.
Just to whet your appetite: on the menu of Chef Apostolos, you will find eggs mayonnaise, ceviche and its incredible seasonings, foie gras terrine and shellfish, then the traditional sole meunière, or a veal saltimbocca, a pork chop, or an aioli which is served exclusively on Fridays... You will discover the desserts for yourself.
Whether at the counter or at the table under the glass roof, the atmosphere is friendly.
We love all the beautiful objects that have been found: the many pieces of silverware, the napkin rings for the most loyal customers in the manner of the Chartier broth in Paris, the trays, the candlesticks, the ice cream cups and bottle coasters, the Martini shakers...
By the way, the CAFÉ POPULAIRE is also a great address for its cocktails, with great references such as the famous Billy Jean, the Mint Julep, the Bellini, the Bloody Mary, and some "exotic" recipes including the Mai Tai, the Negroni or the Martini espresso.
The atmosphere is active and professional at lunch, and relaxing and trendy in the evening.
In any case, "the time for the meal is the time for sharing" as Jean-François Caujolle says.
