It is the largest public library in regional Vocation of France in terms of public surface (18 000 m²).
Designed by Adrien Fainsilber and Didier Rogeonarchitects, the building stands on Belsunce course by its marble-glass façade which is integrated the marquise of the old theater. Inside, the traffic is organized from the central axis, a canopy roof reinforces the clarity and transparency of the place. Vast areas of reading allows the consultation of a million records and borrow more than 350000 books, CD's, sheet music, etc.
The archaeological excavations that preceded the construction of the library work brought to discover and analyze the remains of 26 centuries of history, so back to the Foundation of the city phocéenne(films vidéos et études) made available at the Alcazar archaeologists)...
