This is a well-known institution of Marseille!
And yet, the story is not so long ago.
Sylvain DEPUICHAFFRAY, training, self-taught chef in pastry worked at Queen Sammut in Lourmarin, the Pourcel brothers in Montpellier, at the restaurant Alain Chapel in Mionnay.
In late 1998, is leaving for Sydney for the opening of the Ampersand restaurant with Pascal Barbot. The Australian experience lasts 3 ½ years, his last position will be at Aria restaurant with Matt Moran facing the famous opera.
March 2002, back in France with the project to open his own bakery in Marseille where his wife Myriam has grown. He wants to form 'pastry-shop' among the best trade: Executive Pierre Hermé in Paris to know all the tricks of the Organization of the laboratory.
In early 2004, Myriam & Sylvain open pastry Sylvain Depuichaffray in a real shop. Only insiders know what hides behind this rustic storefront.
Summer 2010, in the same place, new store, still small but more image of Sylvain pastry at once sophisticated and refined flavors and surprising textures alliances while featuring the classics of pastry fra ncaise.

THE tea room closes 1 hour before the store closes
We just take a classic breakfast of buttery pastries, cakes, financiers.
There simply lunch: sandwiches, pies savoury quiches, salads composed just by keeping a room for dessert.
The afternoon, is the break after shopping.
The regulars are put aside their cakes favorite before "going down in the city", they know that late in the day, the choice is more limited.
Attention, the store is closed all public holidays, December 25 & 26, January 1 & 2 Sunday and Easter Monday.
